    GOOD INFORMATION

Post by jayanthcena on Thu Aug 18, 2011 1:26 pm

    FINALLY,
the Supreme Court has announced that any person who meets with a road
accident must be taken to a nearby hospital immediately. The hospital
must NOT ask for a Police Report to admit him. It is their duty to do
First-aid. The police can be informed later. Please SHARE THIS ON YOUR
    WALL.. It will help everyone!

Jayalalithaa moves Tamil New Year back to April 14

Tamils will observe April 14 as New Year Day again. The Tamil Nadu
assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed an amendment reverting to April
14 as the Tamil New Day, which was the day in the Tamil almanac when New
    Year was traditionally observed.
Announcing the move, chief minister J Jayalalithaa cited several references in ancient Tamil literature
and quoted scholars to justify the reversal. In a controversial
decision in 2008, former chief minister M Karunanidhi had changed the
new year date to January 14, citing arguments by certain Tamil scholars.

The former CM had said that even in the early 20th century,
Tamil scholars like Maraimalai Adigal had demanded the change saying
January 14 marked the beginning of the harvest season and was the most
auspicious day in the Tamil almanac.
    However,most families
continued to celebrate the Tamil New Year on April 14, ignoring the
decision made by the ‘rationalist’ regime. Jayalalithaa underlined this
while making the announcement in the assembly. She said though the
previous government had changed the date, Tamils across the world
continued to celebrate April 14 as New Year Day. Later, she told
reporters, “I am leaving for home with a sense of satisfaction.”
